Windows 10 - How to search an EXACT PHRASE in file contents

When searching file contents for an exact phrase by using quotes such as "site assessment" the search results include all files that contain the words "site" or "assessment" and not the exact phrase.

How do you limit the search results to exactly what is typed in quotes? Need help ASAP!!! Thank you!

Hi JonathanPM

Please try this, enter the search phrase twice inside quotes, that should only result in files with that exact phrase . . .

"site assessment" "site assessment"

Unfortunately when I type the search phrase twice, Windows still returns results with either word "site" and "assessment" without the exact phrase.

Hi JonathanPM and thanks for reaching out. My name is Joseph. I'm an independent advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

You may try following these steps.

1. Type "Indexing Options" in your Windows 10 search bar and press enter.
2. Indexing Option > Click "Advanced".
3. In the "Index Setting tab" click "Rebuild" and click okay.
4. Go to the "File Types" tab and select "Index Properties and File Contents" and click the "OK" button.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Thank you!
