Realtek PCIE CardReader has error

hello,

i have a Sony laptop (model SVP132A1CM). I ran a hardware troubleshoot and it says i have an error with the Realtek PCIE CardReader. Is this related to the SD card reader slot? I’ve never used it before and now I’m trying to read an SD card ive stored some photos on. The SD card doesn’t show up at all in the File Explorer. I can only see the local C drive in ‘This PC’. Can someone please tell me if I’m right in assuming this RealTek PCIE error is related to why it’s not picking up the SD card at all, as I’m assuming. I also saw in the device manager that the driver for this PCIE card reader has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Can someone please give me some guidance? Thank you.

Hi Nita. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Make sure you have the latest SD card reader driver from Sony here: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?md...

If necessary refine the model listed at top with the Serial Number on sticker on laptop.

It's a Windows 8.1 driver but should work for WIndows 10. Check in Device Manager reached by right clicking Start button for any errors.

If the driver is working and still no card reader showing up under This PC, right click Start to open Disk Management and find the device on the drive map by scrolling down at bottom. If no drive letter then right click to assign one.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
