New folder failed

I got this problems since last month but now it's annoying.

I can't make new folder, when I right click there's no option for new folder.

I tried make from menu (Home) but still failed to create new folder.

Please help and thank you.

Hi Fahrul
Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

To start with, please execute following steps and let me know (You might need to do last point)

1. CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to start Task Manager
Locate Windows Explorer in Processes tab > Right Click > End Task
Now at the top File > Run new task > Put explorer.exe and Enter

2. Run SFC Scan & DISM
How to - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

3. Run Built-in & Guided Walk through Windows Update troubleshooter
Built-in : Windows Key+X > Click Settings > Click Update & security > Click Troubleshoot > Click Windows Update > Click Run the Troubleshooter

Guided Walk though - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/...

4. If nothing works, I would recommend that you perform a Windows 10 repair upgrade. Repair upgrade fixes all Windows errors and retains all files, applications and settings. (You will not lose any data while backup is a good idea) Below is a good guide to perform repair upgrade

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. Will be glad to help you.

Hi Fahrul. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

See if downloading and merging the .reg files for New Folder and Shortcut fixes it:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/24412-add-r...

If that's not enough go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Virus & Threat Protection Settings > Manage Controlled Folder Access > Test turning Off Controlled Folder Access to check if the problem goes away.

Next, In WIndows Security Center > App & Browser Control > turn Off Check Apps & Files to see if this fixes it.

Try to System Restore to a point before the problem began following this guide: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

You can System Restore from Repair Mode if it will not work in Windows, following one of these paths: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc...

Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

If nothing else helps you can run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows in about an hour while saving your files, apps and most settings, solves many problems while also bringing it up to the latest version 1809 which you need anyway and by the most stable method. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... You can wait until the new Version 1903 is released shortly.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Hi Fahrul

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Try these first to see if they work:

Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

Type in at the prompt OR Copy and Paste these one at a time : (Hit enter after each)

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Also run the System File Checker utility:
Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any integrity violations

Restart your system

Check your hard disk for any errors:
Click Start
Type: CMD, from the results, right click Command prompt
Click 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk /r /f
Hit Enter
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them.

You can also try disabling Controlled Folder Access....

Open Windows Defender Security Center
Click Virus & threat protection
Click Ransomware protection
Toggle off Controlled folder access

Try creating the folder again.

I recommend an in-place upgrade repair.
To repair Windows without losing any data then follow the instruction here:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repai...
This will also upgrade you to the latest version of Windows - currently 1809.
In a nutshell you just insert the Windows 10 media (USB/DVD) & run setup from within Windows.
