Has "Change only the text size" been removed in Creators Update?

I installed the Creators Update (Windows 10 build 15063) from the iso available from Microsoft.  Everything seems to work fine afterwards but the Windows 10 fonts were changed back to the default size. I have some vision issues. Before the update, I'd go to Control Panel/Display and there would be an option at the bottom to "Change only the text size" and you could choose the font size for Title Bars, Message Boxes, Menus, Palette Titles, Icons and tooltips. After the update, the "Change only the text size" no longer appears under Display. There is only the Change Scale option where you increase the size by a percentage. That existed before, but changing only the text size was a better option, as the magnifier creates a certain blurriness, at least with my vision impairment, that isn't there when I just increased the text size. Is there still a way to get to this option?

If not, perhaps a moderator could reroute this post to a Windows 10 feedback board, to say I really hope that they'll restore that option.

Hi Fred,

If you're having trouble with the settings on the new Windows 10 Creators Update, we suggest you go back to the previous build of Windows 10. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Start button (Windows logo).
  2. Click the gear icon (Settings).
  3. Choose Update and Security.
  4. On the left side, select Recovery.
  5. On Recovery, select Get Started under Go back.
  6. Follow the instructions.

The Windows 10 Creator Update will be officially released on April 11, 2017. For more information, check this link.

If you have any questions, kindly reply to this thread.

I saw your first reply (via email) that I guess you edited. The only advantage of going back would be if that particular setting changed by the April 11 release. Otherwise Windows 10 eventually forces you to do the updates anyway.

I don't like having only the scaling option because as I said, that appears more blurry to me than just increasing text sizes.

In your response that's been now edited out, you said I could use the Feedback Hub to say that I want to keep that previous feature. Is there any alternative, like a Microsoft forum board to post to? I have data collection turned off and probably because of that can't get the Feedback Hub to download from the app store.

Just to clarify, can you search the Feedback hub on Cortana? If you cannot search it on Cortana kindly do these steps:

  1. Click the Windows logo (Start button).
  2. You'll see all of your applications sorted alphabetically on the Start menu. Scroll down to the F section and you'll see the Feedback hub.

Another way is to go to Settings. There is a shortcut for the Feedback hub there. To access Settings, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Windows logo (Start button).
  2. On the lower left part of the Start menu, click the gear icon (Settings).
  3. Click System.
  4. On the right side, you'll see Make Windows better.
  5. Under Make Windows better, you'll see a link that says, "Give feedback".
  6. Click Give feedback.
  7. After clicking Give feedback, the Feedback hub will open. You can now post your suggestion.

The Feedback hub is Microsoft's suggestion platform for Windows. For you and other users to give suggestions to Microsoft about Windows, you'll need to use the said application.

Let us know if you were able to access the Feedback hub application.

I was just saying that because of privacy concerns, I didn't want to use the Feedback Hub and hoped there was an alternative. I did change some settings, just to be able to use it, and then changed them back afterwards. Hopefully the feedback will do some good.

Yes, the "Change only the text size" has been removed from Creators Edition.  The answer I saw posted in an MS help forum stated, "The “Change only the text size” option was turned off in Windows 10 Creators Update. Unfortunately, the setting was not supported throughout the entire system. For example, it didn’t work with the Start menu, Cortana, Edge and some applications."

So, there you go.  Microsoft believes no loaf is better than half a loaf.  I used that feature and again, MS breaks what ain't broke.

Also, W--your fix didn't work for me.  Thanks, though.

After reading the last reply, I just wanted to mention that I used the registry mods. that w100208

Yeah!  This worked for me, too!  It didn't at first, and then I ran as "as administrator," and that did the trick.  Fred-I didn't realize there was a link above w100208's graphic there until your post.  I was trying the individual "tenforums" links above that, and they didn't work.  This is very much appreciated as the text before was very thin and difficult to read.  Even increasing the scale settings didn't work.  I use 12pt. Tahoma, and it is very readable.

Thank you w100208 and FredBiles!

This is inexcusable. I have no idea why Microsoft have done this.
