But it gives me no clue about which settings or what to do. Useless advice!

Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

In regards to the issue, I require additional information to make sure that helps us to resolve the issue easily:

1) Where does it shows or gives the musical ping in the computer?

2) Does this message displays while using Gmail in web browser or in Windows mail app?

Please reply to us with more information.

Thanks.

This message pops up on the right bottom side of my laptop.  This time whilst it started and opened up.  It has done so several times during different apps on mine.  Hope this helps us get an answer.

Hi,

Apologize for delay in response.

When you receive the message “Your account settings are out-of-date”. You should be able to address this issue by going to Settings -> Accounts and the selecting the account you receive the message for.

Go to Control Panel > Clock, Language and Region > Date and Time > Internet Time and unchecking the sync with internet time option.

If the issue still persists, I suggest you to contact the Google support for more assistance.

I went though this fix and what seems to be happening is that Microsoft wants permission to access your gmail account info, contacts. So they bug you saying your gmail account needs updating. Shady of Microsoft.

I got all the way to 'time' but there was no 'internet time' option.  I went into Additional settings to find 'time' but there was only 'short time' and 'long time'.  Thanks, Roberta

I have just been going around in circles, never seeing a 'internet time'.  SO frustrated and I don't even know where to look to see if I get an answer here.  I feel so helpless.  Roberta

The actual reason for this is that Gmail won't let you in from Windows 10 because Windows uses a less secure method.

When I got this message I also got an email from gmail telling me this.

To fix this you need to go into your gmail settings and turn on the "access for less secure apps".

Once I did this it accepted it in Windows 10 mobile Outlook app.

Why would I want to give Microsoft acces to my private data on gmail?

There must be a way to stop this.

I don't recall asking Windows 10 to acces or use my gmail account, other than an email address to sign in to services.
