Can't login to Windows Store

I am currently unable to login into the Windows Store, it always returns that I have an invalid password.

I can login to http://login.live.com with my email address and password without issue.  My suspicions are it's something to do with the email address being shared with a Microsoft Account and my Organisation account however even when I use my Outlook or Office 365 password I get the same bad password response.

Any ideas?

MichaelDe Rose,

I would suggest you to refer to the methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Found one MSDN link which is helpful for app issues after upgrading to Windows 8.1.

Refer to the link: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/notime/archive/2013/10/21/10458031.aspx

Registry Disclaimer: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

  1. Press Windows key + R
  2. Type “regedit” in the run box.
  3. Locate and click the key or subkey that you want to back up.
  4. Click the File menu, and then click Export.
  5. In the Save in box, select the location where you want to save the backup copy to, and then type a name for the backup file in the File name box.
  6. Click Save.

Method 2:

Run "Windows Store Apps" Troubleshooter

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to run the "Windows Store Apps" troubleshooter. This tool can automatically find and fix some problems with apps. It is only available in English, but will work in all languages. You can let it automatically attempt to repair any found issues, or select what repairs you want to have done.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to clear Windows Store cache and check how it works.

a) Press Windows logo key + R

b) Type wsreset.exe on Run window and press enter.

Method 4:

Set Apps to be Trusted in third Party Antivirus Program -If you have a third party AV program installed, then check it's settings to make sure that Store app not working is changed to be trusted. If the AV program has the app as untrusted, then it will block and prevent the app from opening.

Let us know the status of the issue. If you need further assistance, please post back. We will be glad to help you.

Regards,
Anil
