Unable to install 8.1 (Error code 0xC1900101-0x3000D)

Attempted to upgrade Windows 8.0 to 8.1 three times today, each time upon install and restart, after the windows logo I am given a black screen with only my mouse cursor. Task manager will not run, (No response from Ctrl+Alt+Delete or Ctrl+Shift+Esc).

No change occurs after waiting on the black screen for more than one hour. Forcing restart causes the computer to recover Windows 8 and I am given the message that 8.1 can not be installed and the error code 0xC1900101-0x3000D

The black screen makes me suspects a graphic driver issue with the update (Running GeForce GTX660).

Windows 8 Pro, Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GhZ, 64-bit (x64-based processor).

Hi,

This issue can occur because of  3rd party Start Menu items.  The symptoms are described with the error code 0xc1900101 0x20017.  The Start Menu app is created by IOBit.  To solve the issue, simply remove the app before upgrading.

If you have IOBit software installed on the computer try to uninstall it and then perform the upgrade.

Not all programs made by IOBit contain the IOBit name in the file or creator. Check this site to see if any of your programs match those listed.

I have uninstalled Razer Game Booster and will be attempting install again. I will update with my results, thank you for the advice Naman R.

UPDATE: This did not solve the issue. I was able to get to "Getting Devices Ready 75%" before getting a black screen with mouse cursor. Upon restoring the system to Windows 8 I was given the new error number 0xC1900101-0x30018 and will be seeking a solution through the linked search.

UPDATE 2: There seems to be no answer and no support for the 0x30018 issue which has come up following the above advice.

Also:
The error code that you listed does not match the error code encountered by me and all others in this thread. The error code that we are encountering is listed in the title and description of the issue.  0xC1900101-0x3000D
