Error 1704. Please help Me

Hello all. For some reason when i am trying to install any kind of software on my Laptop PC the following is shown and after that the system transfers me to the end of installation stating that installation is interrupted.

Issue itself:

"The Process cannot continue because the (Microsoft visual C++ 2008 redistribute Package  SP1 (86x)) install unsuccessful."

or ''error 1704 an installation for Microsoft visual c++ 2008 redistributeable is currently suspended''

So basically anything i intend to install on my PC is blocked because of this Microsoft visual.

I tried the Registry but could not found the key to uninstall or resume the installation of Microsoft visual.

Please i desperately need your help

Hi Giorgi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

Do you face any issues with installation of Microsoft Office applications?

As per the problem description, I understand that you get error code 1704 “An installation for software is currently suspended” while installing any software on the computer. Let me help you troubleshoot this issue. First check for important/ optional Windows updates, download and install them.

Follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1: Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled
Method 2: Unregister and Re-register Windows Installer.
Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type ‘msiexec /unregister’ without quotes and click on OK.
Press Windows key + R, in the Run Window type ‘msiexec /regserver’ without quotes and click on OK.
Note: There is a single space in between ‘msiexec’ and ‘/’.
Method 3: Perform a clean boot to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts. Follow these steps given in the link below to start the computer in clean boot.
Note: After performing clean boot refer to these steps to boot to normal mode. How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot.
a. On the Start screen, type msconfig, and then press Enter.
b. On the General tab, tap or click the Normal Startup option.
c. Tap or click the Services tab and clear the check box beside Hide all Microsoft services, and then tap or click Enable all.
d. Next, tap or click the Startup tab, and then tap or click Open Task Manager.
e. In task manager, enable all of your startup programs, and then tap or click OK.
f. When you are prompted to restart the computer, tap or click Restart.
Now check if you are able to install the programs.
Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files
Hope this helps. If the issue persists please provide required information and we’ll be glad to assist you.
