Sonocaddie v300a software won't install on Windows 8.1

I have had this program on my computer for many years to update courses on my husband's Golf GPS.  I haven't had a problem opening the Sonocaddie program until a few days ago.  It won't open on the computer. I get a message that it has stopped working and windows is gathering more information. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the CD supplied I have also downloaded it from Sonocaddie's website. It says it is installed but won't open. I have shut down and restarted computer but it still won't open.

I don't know if it is compatible with 8.1 or not.

See if this assists you.

1. Are you installing that Program as the Admin.

Right click on the setup.exe or install.exe > select Run as Administrator.

2. If it is not Compatible, follow these steps:

"Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows"

Thank you Bill,  I have been using it on this computer for many years with no problem. Nothing has changed on my computer apart from Windows Updates, I tried to recover it from an earlier recovery point before the latest updates but no success.  When I download it from the website or install it from the CD  it downloads and says it is installed. I have tried to 'Run as Administrator' but still doesn't open. Have also tried the compatibility troubleshooter but  it still doesn't work in earlier versions of Windows.

Same problem on windows 7 , has worked in the passed, installed but wont open, have reinstalled still wont open, error. Have run as administrator still wont open, any ideas

I can't get to any of the sonocaddie web sites (www.sonocaddie.com) and can not find a good phone number for sonocaddie  the number I have (800-336-6264) is no longer a sonocaddie number.

I have had the Sonocaddie v300a for years also.

I last put some courses on about this time 12 months ago and all seemed fine. I needed to put some more courses on today7 (and take some off) but nothing works.

The program is on both my desktop and laptop and neither are giving me access; just a pop-up box when I double click the icon saying simply - "Do you want this program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this PC".

I say 'yes' and nothing happens - the program simply won't open.

Has the company gone into liquidation? Even if it did the software should still operate; I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program using the supplied disk but to no avail.

I am assuming a Windows update has occured and locked us out.

Have you heard anymore from anyone?

Hi Alpha Charlie,

No I haven't heard from anyone. I couldn't access the program after re-installing many times. Also sent messages to company but didn't receive a reply. I don't know if they are still in business. I gave up and purchased a different GPS for my husband.

No luck here either. Bought the unit back in 2008 so guess I can't complain it has served me pretty well.

Like you I will have to invest in a new one; what did you get in the end?
