Windows Media Center EPG not downloading in Canada -

Hi

I am in Canada - Ottawa Ontario Postal Code K2A 1Z1 - I use Rogers HD Digital services.  All worked well up till the 27th July and now it does not download new listings...  I am locked on Zap2IT and it does not change over to Rovi.

I have tried all the suggestions... Changing DNS to 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 and removing the Hosts file and doing the TV setup.. I have even done the master setup...

I am running a fully patched up Windows 8.1 64 bit system

Still locked on Zat2it.. I suspect that Microsoft has been swamped and have not completed entering all the services people use and underestimated MWC people using it for TV tuning...  Maybe this exercise may cause Microsoft to reconsider it's cancellation in Windows 10...

But for now... Please activate the Canadian services!!!

Thanks

Andy

Partial resolution found at https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback/Details/1602998:  Downloads correct guide data and channel listings, some problems with show metadata (pictures, etc.) but functioning workaround, at least for my zip code.

----
This combination of steps from the Green Button from Jasonl, Sept 2014 at http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?p=80288&f=5#p80288 with IP addresses found here from JFRLovedMediaCenter at https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback/Details/1599307 worked perfectly to restore my Guide for zip code 80211--just not sure it's permanent.  I did not need to rerun Set-Up, nor did I lose and recording settings.  From Green Button:

1. Open an elevated command prompt (search for cmd, right click, Run as Administrator) and run:

notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

2. Add the following lines at the bottom of the file in notepad (extra notation added):

# Old fix from Sept 2014 Green Button at

# added these lines:

# 65.55.5.170 data.tvdownload.microsoft.com

# 2.16.216.176 cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com

# Newer fix 7/27/2015 at https://connect.microsoft.com/site1145/Feedback/Detail/1599307

# changed IP addresses from old fix to the following (may need to remove if updated in future):

65.55.186.113  data.tvdownload.microsoft.com

72.246.56.69  cdn.epg.tvdownload.microsoft.com

3. Save the file, then at the command prompt run:

ipconfig /flushdns

4. Select 'Get Latest Guide Listing' in MCE/Tasks/TV/Guide to update guide.

--hope this works for many of you, but keep notes since you may need to delete the added line later.

We have a winner....

Thank you ever so much for this fix....

I now am updating..... and have cut over to Rovi... all without running the TV Setup!

I am adding this to your message....

This option starts the downloads and cuts over to Rovi....

Hope it works for a while!

Barb.. you might want to pass this info on..

It's a bit of a kludge...  but much more satisfying!

Andy

This solution seems to work.. I worry it could be temporary...

Others have found doing the TV Setup and redoing the setup caused the change over

Others needed to go to General and do the full setup....
