I have been struggling with installing KB4056895 - 2018-01 Monthly Quality Roll-up for Windows 8.1.  I have run the update a number of times with no success and now have 2018-02 not installing either.  Looking at the forum, I have tried downloading the update through Microsoft Update Catalog but no success there either.  Please can someone help?  Many thanks

Hello M.E.46,

I'd like to get more information regarding this so we could further check and provide a more established workaround.

If you've tried to troubleshoot prior to posting your concern here in the Community, please provide the exact steps performed as this would allow us to confirm and isolate the issue.

Also, noting that you've tried to perform a manual download of the said update, please confirm if you're getting any error messages. We'll need you to confirm this first before we proceed, thus we highly recommend that you send us a screenshot of pop-up message whenever you try to access the Microsoft Update Catalog.

We will keep an eye out for your response.

Regards.

Hi Jane,

I will try and respond to your requests although I am not really proficient in some of what is needed.

After a number of days of trying to install KB4056895, I downloading Windows Update Troubleshooter again today:

1. Downloaded troubleshooter for Windows 7 and Windows 8 since the laptop uses Windows 8.1 - screenshot 7

2. Clicked on Next - detecting problems & collecting files - resolving problems

3. Results of Troubleshooting - screenshot 8

4. Detailed report

Will send a separate email regarding Microsoft Update Catalog.
