Images are not displaying when CHM Help files are opened.

I am running Win 8.1 with auto-update enabled on my Toshiba Satellite Laptop. When I double-click the file name or hit the help button to open open any CHM Help file, none of the images in the CHM file render correctly. All I see is a box with and X in it and the image file name. This happens with all CHM files. When I check "open with" it shows "Microoft HTML Help Executable." How do I correct this image display problem in CHM files?

I understand that you are unable to view the images in CHM Help files. I will be happy to help you on this.

This issue could occur if the images are blocked by the server or if the image is inaccessible from the shared drive.

To further investigate with the issue, please let us know.

  1. From where are you trying to access the CHM Help files?
  2. Does this issue occurs with all CHM Help files?

I suggest you to right click on the image and then click on Download pictures or Unblock and check if it helps.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to follow these steps given below:

Open up a Command Prompt and run the following commands:
 
a) Go to Start,
b) All Programs,
c) Accessories then Command Prompt.
d) Run as Administrator.

regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx
regsvr32 itss.dll
regsvr32 itircl.dll

 
Please try to open image and lets us know   the result of the above steps and with all the additional information regarding this issue.
