Can't create my ActiveX object

My website uses an ActiveX control that works in older versions of Windows. But after upgradring to Windows 8.1, I get the error "automation server can't create object" when I try to create a new ActiveXObject with javascript. I am in the desktop version and I know ActiveX isnt supported in Metro.

When I go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/testax.asp to test if ActiveX is supported, it works like a charm.

Is there something that windows 8 require to be able to run ActiveX controls, that wasnt needed in older versions of Windows?

The ActiveX control was written in .Net 3.5, which isnt included in Windows 8 by default. Installing .Net 3.5 solved the problem.
