Unable to uninstall Hotspot Shield 3.19 - Error "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Hotspot Shield 3.19. Please contact your system administrator"

Hi,

I recently ran into a failed installation of Hotspot Shield 3.19 in my Windows 8.1.
Upon trying to uninstall through control panel I received a popup error "You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Hotspot Shield 3.19. Please contact your system administrator"

Solutions tried:

1. I tried to run Microsoft Fix it but it mentioned that it is not compatible with my current OS
"We're sorry, but your operating system is not supported by Microsoft Fix it at this time."

2. I also tried disabling UAC restarting and then attempting to uninstall it via Control panel again. this did not work as well

3. I also tried removing and uninstalling it from my current network connection. I was successful in unistalling it from the network connection but it is still there in the program list in control panel and I am still unable to uninstall it

Please help me rectify this problem

Hi Alby,

- Have you run the Microsoft Fixit from http://support.microsoft.com/Mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/ ?

You may try these steps.

- Right click on Hotspot Shield 3.19 on the desktop or the taskbar and select Properties.

- Click on the Shortcut tab and then click on Find Target.

-  In the bin file folder, click Up button in Address Bar.

- Double click on Uninstall and follow the on screen instructions to uninstall the software.

Manually search in the registry for Hotspot files and delete them.

note: before making any changes in the registry, please backup the files in the registry. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/back-up-the-registry (applicable to Windows 8.1)

- Open Registry editor using the search charms.

- Click on Edit and then on Find (Or simply press CTRL + F)

- Type Hotspot and press enter.

- Right click on the keys related to hotspot and delete them.

- Restart the computer and check.

Let us know if this helps.
