right click on desktop very slow to display menu

Since upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 when I right click on the desktop, it takes about 30 seconds to display the context menu. It used to display instantly before the upgrade. I get no errors, the menu displays after waiting 30-40 seconds. Also now can't copy/paste any more. I was really trying to like Windows 8 and 8.1, but now I'm going back to 7. A simple upgrade shouldn't require hours of troubleshooting.

The problem could be a problematic third party context menu handler.

The following link has some info and a download to ShellExView which you can use to selectively disable third party context menu handlers to find out a problematic one:

You could try disabling all non-Microsoft context menu handlers and then, if the problem resolves, re-enable them one at a time to see which one was the problem
