Hi Ajith,

From the issue description, I understand that you are trying to open the “PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire” Version 5.0 software on your Windows 8.1 computer. I would like to ask few questions regarding this issue. Please answer these questions for a better understanding:

1) Which operating system are you using on the other computer where this program is working fine?

2) Do you have any third party security program installed on the computer?

3) Did you get any error message while trying to install this software on the computer? If yes, what is the exact error message?

This issue could be either due to the incompatibility of this program with Windows 8.1 Operating System. The Windows Compatibility Center shows that this program is compatible with Windows 8.1. Please click on this link for details:

PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire Compatibility with Windows 8.1

However, the “System Requirements” for this software, given in the PTC Support article does not show Windows 8.1 Operating System. Please refer to this article: Hardware Notes - Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5.0 and Creo Elements/Pro 5.0

So, the reason why you face this issue, is the incompatibility of the “PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire” Version 5.0 software with Windows 8.1.

Thus, to resolve this issue, you may uninstall and reinstall this program in Windows 7 compatibility mode and check if that resolves the issue. To install this program in Windows 7 compatibility mode, you may refer to this article:

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

Hope this is helpful. Please get back to us with the result.
Regards,
Rajesh Govind - Microsoft Support Engineer
