Windows Display Resolution scaling on multiple monitors not working

Hi,

I am using a 2nd Gen Lenovo X1 Carbon, and connected to two external monitors via OneLink Pro Dock, with latest drivers on all..

I can only get the right resolution on the two external monitors (1680x1050 Recommended), with no fussy fonts ONLY if  i set the "Change Size of all items" to smallest setting, but the built-in display on my machine becomes very small, and not readable for things like outlook, or Lync (IE is fine)

I have the "let me choose one scaling level for all my displayes" unchecked, which I imagined will solve this problem, but I am noticing checking or unchecking this box is not making any difference in the result

any help?
