Miracast with Windows 8.1

I've just purchased a Panasonic DMP-BDT230 Blu-ray player that comes with Miracast support. However, as others have found, it doesn't work with Windows 8.1:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1_pr-hardware/surface-pro-miracast-to-panasonic-dmp-bdt230/0ab67def-ada3-4f2b-ad07-b2811e1cc3f2

What I find particularly frustrating is that that thread has been locked against further comments without any indication as to why.

What is Microsoft's stance regarding supporting their implementation of Miracast? As an industry standard, one might hope that MS would want to resolve any incompatibility issues. In the case of the DMP-BDT230, it isn't clear whether the issue lies with Microsoft or Panasonic. As the original poster points out, Windows tells the user to press a button on the device but there isn't anything to press that makes any difference! The device just sits there waiting for something else to happen.

All very disappointing, really - I was very much looking forward to trying this out.

Answer
If you just want to play an avi file or such , you can right click the file and then select "Play to" , and choose the dvd player from there . Its not miracast , and if you want to do a presentation or such I don't think it works , but for media it should be OK
