Lifetime support of windows 8.1

Recently I upgraded to windows 10, however, as weird as it is, I decided to go back to windows 8.

There is a ton of reasons why I decided to do that, but the main one is that windows 10 wasn't compatible with my sound device (and I've got a huge studio that runs off of it.)

My question is since windows 10 was free and all, will the lifetime support for windows 8.1 be dropped early on?  or will it still exist as long as the support for windows 7?

Its up to MS of course, but I doubt that will change. However, they may choose to "encourage" people to update to W10 by removing more facilities from W8.1 as they did with the 'Metro' Skype app for one example.
