Dymo software fatal error

I have been using the Dymo software 8.5 with a labelwriter 450 twin turbo on my windows 8.1 machine with no problems. All of a sudden when i try to open the softwarwe I get a fatal error "cannont create instance of "mainwindow" defined in assembly 'DYMO.DLS, Version+8.5.1.1751, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=5426002a38745af9'. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. Error in markup file 'DYMO.DLS;component/MainWindow.xaml'."

I have tried restarting the system, uninstalled the software and re installed multiple times. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

As our software is dependent on .NET Framework 3.5, it is possible that the error you are experiencing is in relation to this. I would advise you to try the following solution:

1. Download the Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool.
2. Allow the tool to apply its recommended settings.

3. Once the repair is finished, reboot the computer.

Please also make sure you have the latest version of DYMO Label (8.5.1 at the the time of writing).

Hi bo_6,

I understand, thank you for the information.

In this case what I would like for you to try is to do what is known as a complete reinstall through the steps below.

This reinstall removes everything that has to do with Dymo and lets the computer start fresh.

What I would also like to ask if you upgraded to Windows 10 or if it was a clean installation?

Reinstalling Dymo:

Step 1 - Removing Dymo Drivers
The LWSupport utility is provided by DYMO to uninstall DYMO printer drivers in Windows.  To run the LWSupport utility, follow the steps listed below:

1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer

2. Open the Printers folder.
* Start > Devices and Printers
* Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers

3. Remove any Dymo printers present in here

4. Close the Printers folder

5. When DYMO Label software was installed, a subfolder entitled Support Files was created in the DYMO Label Software folder, which is located in: C:\Program Files\DYMO\DYMO Label Software. In the Support Files folder is the file LWSupport.exe.

6. Double-click on the LWSupport.exe file. A DYMO Label Support Tool window will appear. Select Remove DYMO Printer Drivers and click OK.

7. Click Remove. This will remove any DYMO printers from the Installed Drivers field.
Afterwards, click Close. When prompted, select Yes to restart your computer.

* If you see an error message after clicking Remove, restart your computer and re-run the LWSupport utility.

7.1. Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Program or Programs & Features > Then remove the DYMO programs in the list of installed programs. When done restart the computer and delete the following folders:

32bit - C:\Program Files\DYMO (v.8.x.x)
64bit - C:\Program Files (x86)\DYMO (v.8.x.x)

C:\Users\-User Name-\App Data\Local\DYMO

C:\Users\-User Name-\App Data\Local\Sanford,_L.P

7.2 In your Start menu Search box please type “regedit”. This command will evoke a prompt window
with five collapsed menus. In both HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE please go to
Software sub-folders and if there is any folder called DYMO, delete it.

8. Install the latest version of DYMO Label Software (see below for download link) and reconnect the printer to the computer when prompted. It will now automatically install the necessary drivers. Please wait until it says in the bottom right corner that the installation was successful

9. Now try running the software again and there should be better result

Download Dymo Label Software
