Q: Windows Explorer in Widows 8.1--Crash on right-click This thread is locked from future replies

Hello,
I am running windows 8.1 on a Lenovo G480. Here is my problem:
When I click the File Explorer icon, My screen goes red (I assume the color will very based on other people's personalization) and then the start bar starts to come back, then my desktop. If I have any programs open, they don't close. The same thing happens if I open any other folder and right click on the navigation bar. I also get this reaction when I open This PC and right click anywhere in the explorer window.
Could this be a windows problem? Is there something that I could do to fix this?
Thanks!

Answer

A:

The problem could be a problematic third party context menu handler.

The following link has some info and a download to ShellExView which you can use to selectively disable third party context menu handlers to find out a problematic one:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm

You could try disabling all non-Microsoft context menu handlers and then, if the problem resolves, re-enable them one at a time to see which one was the problem.

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.
