A file called OGLdpf.log rarely and randomly appears.

Original Title: OGLdpf.log files

Over the past week or two I have noticed a file rarely and randomly appear called OGLdpf.log. The file has only been created four to six times in three or four folders and opens as a blank notepad document. I've noticed that the time it was created matched the time I last modified another file in the folders it appeared in. I am not sure if this is only a coincidence, but the files with the matching modified times were all created in either Adobe Photoshop or Premier (Creative Cloud). What do these files mean and why do they keep appearing?

Hi,

Let’s first check if this is caused by any virus or malicious software infection on the computer. Let’s run a security scan in Safe Mode with Networking using Microsoft Safety Scanner and check the scan results.

Boot the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and perform a Security Scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner

In Windows, we can start the computer in different advanced troubleshooting modes to find and fix problems on the PC. One of such troubleshooting mode is Safe Mode with Networking. Here we start Windows with a minimal set of drivers and services, including the network drivers. Please refer to the steps from the article given below to boot the computer in safe mode with networking:

Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)

After booting the computer in Safe Mode with Networking, you can download Microsoft Safety Scanner from the link given below and then perform a complete security scan.

Download Microsoft Safety Scanner

Important: When running a scan using an anti-virus program, any data files that are infected may be cleaned by deleting the file entirely, which means there is a potential for data loss.

Please get back to us with the results.

Regards,
Rajesh Govind - Microsoft Support Engineer

I followed the instructions and no infected files were on my Surface. Could this have something to do with Creative Cloud like I mentioned in my original post?

I am very sure this has something to do with Creative Cloud because I was just editing something in Photoshop CC when I saved it as a .PNG and noticed an OGLdpf.log file with a date modified/created that was exactly the same as when I last saved the Photoshop file I was about to save as a .PNG. I still have no idea what this means and why it recently started appearing, though.

I have the same problem too and I can assure that this is not related to Creative Cloud nor photoshop (which I don't have installed).

In my case those files are created after I open a video with VLC.

I'm noticing this too. I just made a file in AutoCAD and another blank OGLdpf.log was created at the same time as the CAD file.

I have the same situation until I realized it wasn't happen before I use a different graphic driver. Before the changing, I tried to open via Nvidia graphic card, that file didn't not be carted, while  open via Intel graphic card, it did be crated. After that I changed my Intel graphic driver, problem solved.

This is happening on my Surface Pro, so I wouldn't be able to physically change a graphics card, and I don't remember updating any graphics drivers. Could this possibly be happening because my graphics card driver didn't automatically update?

The OGLdpf.log files did not start appearing until a few weeks ago. There might have been an automatic update since then that could have been causing this though. Since you had the same problem, what is an OGLdpf.log file?
