Windows 8 Mail App sync issues after upgrading to Windows 8.1

Original title : Windows 8 Mail App HELP

I recently upgraded from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and after syncing the mail app to my gmail account i noticed that it isn't syncing automatically and has no option for a live tile on the start screen. And i thought it might be because it isn't a lock screen app and is not running in the background at all. So i entered the permissions tab in the mail app and tried to enable it as a lock screen app, but it constantly states that there are to many apps on the lock screen for mail to be able to show quick statuses and run in the background even though there aren't any :/

I have already tried the Lock Screen Apps option in the Pc Settings but no luck

If there is anyone the can help me to enable the mail app to be a lock screen app and run in the background, it would be much appreciated.
