Xbox One Wireless Adapter - Setup Blocked by group Policy???

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check.

Method 1: 

Run Home group troubleshooter.

a. Press Windows key + X and choose Control Panel.

b. In the search box, type 'troubleshooting'.

c. Choose 'Troubleshooting'.

d. Click View All.

e. Choose HomeGroup. Follow on-screen instruction.

If the issue still persists try the below method.

Method 2:

As an alternative suggest you to create new Home group user account with administrator rights and try to update the drivers.

1) Press Windows logo key + X key.

2) Click /tap on Control panel.

3) Click on Network and Internet.

4) Click Network and sharing.

5) Click on Create a new home group user account.

And follow the online instruction.

Thank you for the prompt response, unfortunately I have tried both methods and still the wireless adapter will not install.  

Device manager tells me the device is known to have issues with Windows (Error 48) and to contant the vendor - Microsoft. 

I have checked all settings in Group Policy and cannot see any reason for this happening.

Thank you for the update on the issue.

We would like to ask you:

• Is your system connected to a domain? If not, was it ever connected to one?

In the meantime, try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Open the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Hardware and Devices in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Find and fix problems with devices.‌  You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice.

Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers. Follow these steps:

a)    Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc in the run box box and press OK.

b)    Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.

c)    Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

d)    Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.

e)    Plug in the removable USB device, and then test to make sure that the issue is resolved.

I have the exact same problem.

You'd think a Microsoft product, made for the PC, would work on your new operating systems.

It really boggles the mind how you managed to make your own device not work with your own OS, impressive!

I am also having this problem. New xbox adapter for windows fresh out of the box and i have not been able to connect it at all after trying many different things. Thank you for the light paperweight microsoft >:(

Hi,

If you follow the first steps a few threads above, and you come onto this step,

I found that going into hardware and devices, troubleshooting the device, it may say that windows update needs to be altered to allow instant updates if yours does not work, if you do that, let the troubleshoot complete, then uninstall and delete all drivers relating to this adapter, I had mine plugged into a sub 3.0 port, I switched to a 2.0 port, plugged it back in and it installed the correct drivers first time and is now working correctly.

From the sound of it, its most probably or corrupt driver file to begin with. so hopefully this helps you out as it did me.
