First, if you want a refund, you'd need to contact Mojang/the website you bought it from.

Does the game work without trying to use the Store?


Second, you may try these troubleshooting methods:

1. Try to reinstall the game. This may fix it on it's own.

2. Make sure your device drivers are up to date. Uninstall and reinstall graphics drivers especially.

You can try these troubleshooting steps below if that does not work:

1:

you should try signing out of the Microsoft Store.

Click your Profile picture at the top right > click your account > sign out.

Restart your PC, and sign back into the store to see if that fixes it.

Run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter.

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot
Scroll down to the bottom
Click Windows Store Apps

Run the troubleshooter

Try again and see what happens.

Press Windows key + R
Type: wsreset.exe
Hit Enter

It will open a prompt, run through things, then close or you will have to close it yourself.

Try to reinstall the store:
Press Windows key + X
Click Windows PowerShell (Admin)
At the command prompt, type this following and afterwords, hit enter and restart your PC.

Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

Type each of the following then hit Enter

Net Stop bits
Net Stop wuauserv
Net Stop appidsvc
Net Stop cryptsvc
Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
Ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
Net Start bits
Net Start wuauserv
Net Start appidsvc
Net Start cryptsvc

Open Start, type: CMD
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

Type all of these and hit enter

taskkill /F /FI "SERVICES eq wuauserv" (do this multiple times)
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
rmdir C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
rmdir C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Hi Zachery, thank you for the help, but the problem still hasn't been resolved, I have tried every one of your suggestions and tried to open the game but I continues to crash. As I brought the game in a bundle on the Mojang website im afraid I may not be able to get a refund. A few days ago the game opened for the first time without crashing, I have brought it for a couple months now and tried to open it everyday but everytime it has crashed except for that one time.

I would recommend that you restore from a system restore point to a point when things were working fine

Hi, it was only that one day it worked, and I've tried restoring to previous versions but it didn't locate any previous versions.

Firt of all, make sure you are running the latest version of Windows 10. Seriously.

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

Open Start
Type: cmd
Right click CMD
Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type:
net user administrator/active:yes

Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Do you have the latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 1803 installed?

Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features
Scroll down to Minecraft
Select it
Click Advanced options
Click Reset

Restart

Check the Store for updates

If that does not work...

download the following utility and use it to remove Minecraft:
