Can't Launch Minecraft

Just bought and installed Minecraft for windows 10. Everytime i launch it it closes after 5 seconds and nothing else happens. My windows is updated and i bought the right minecraft version, what should i do?

What is the current version and build reported under Windows Specifications under Settings>System>About?

Hi,

Try updating to 1909 using Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.
Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

Hello

I updated windows and redownloaded minecraft, but the same thing happens.

Also i just noticed that even though the app is called "Minecraft for Windows 10" and im sure i chose the PC platform option when purchasing the game, it says "Xbox Live" right next to it, should i be worried about that?

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums. 

The Xbox Live edition is your most up-to-date version of Minecraft. Microsoft are wanting Minecraft to be playable on all platforms with everyone playing cross platform also. So you will be able to play with someone on Xbox, proving they have the same version of Minecraft. 

So do you have two versions of Minecraft installed on your computer (Windows 10 and Live edition)?
