facebook app on windows 10 crashes immediately

Method 1:

Run the apps troubleshooter and check if it helps with the issue.

Method 2:
Run SFC scan.

System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Refer to these steps to perform a SFC scan:

Method 3: For Windows Store issues, I would suggest you first check if the date and time has been set correctly.

Also, refer Store cache.
Press Windows key + R, type WSreset.exe and press OK.

I tried all of the recommendations and nothing worked.  The facebook app still closes within seconds of opening.

Same problem on a tablet with Windows 10. Worked ok until a day or two ago. Tried all the suggested fixes without success.

In this situation, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if you still face the issue. To create it perform the steps mentioned below.

1.  Press Windows key + R key, Run window opens. 
2.  Type control in the open box and click Ok. 
3.  Control Panel windows opens. 
4.  Click on User accounts and Family Safety. 
5.  Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts. 
6.   Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions. 

Now check if the issue persists in the new user account.

I tried this. Added new user. Downloaded Facebook app to the new user. Opened it and logged in using my credentials. It still crashed after I started scrolling the posts. All other installed apps working fine. Look at the Facebook app reviews in the Windows Store. Looks like a lot of folks having problems with crashes of this app beginning around 11/7/15.
