Apps close when I open them

Hi, I just installed the windows 10 Creators update with the upgrade assistant tool because I was eager to get it. After that, when I open up my apps, they close right after I open them. Any way to fix this?

Hi Gage,

We're glad to hear that you were able to install the Windows Creators update. However, you mentioned that you are having issue launching your apps after installing the update. The workaround that we can recommend for now is to uninstall the Creators Update by opening Settings, click on Update and Security, Recovery and selecting Get Started under Go Back.

Feel free to post back should you have further concerns.

Microsoft said you can install the creators update earlier on april 5 like I did and I was eager for it. So any way to fix this without uninstalling the creators update?

hello, my English is not too good but I will try. I had the same problem with edge. it started and after a few seconds closed. I run win in safe mode, then I copy to the different folder everything from C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe. I run win again in normal mode and I started edge again. without success. but later I copy again everything from my temporary folder to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe  and I run edge again. and now it works.

Apps don't crash when you start with "execute as administrator"

I too am having this issue, and it just started today when I rebooted my computer, and after I logged on it showed me that I now have the new update. However, it won't let me go back to a previous version because it says I updated more than 10 days ago. I'm not sure what to do, but all my apps are crashing immediately following their launch.

I had this kind of issue as well. My Store crashes right away when I click on it.  What I did is I performed the Clean Boot. Use the URL below on how to do it.

Let me know if that would help.

I've got a user with a Surface Pro 4 Windows 10 (no creator update) that has the same issue. I've tried to reset the apps,m change the rights to the folder(s), as well as run this script through Powershell:  Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}.  The script seemed to resolve the issue for about a week, but I was notified today that when he tries to open a modern app, the picture viewer as an example, it closes immediately.  Store, 3D Builder, and anything else like that open and closes immediately.  The logs show an error like this:

Activation of app Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App failed with error: The app didn't start. See the Microsoft-Windows-TWinUI/Operational log for additional information.

Any ideas?
