Your phone app call quality

Does anyone have trouble with poor call quality when calling from your phone app, using ur phone? Mine cuts out n is not clear.

1) Requirements for using Your Phone app:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4531293/your-phone-system-requirements-and-set-up

2) Try resetting the App in Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Your Phone > Advanced Options > Repair and then Reset.   Restart PC.

3) Next try re-registering the app from Option 2 here:  http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/3175-apps-re-register-windows-8-10-a.html

4) If those don't work then try the latest fixes working for Your Phone app:

One of these should normally fix it.

5) You can try uninstalling Your Phone in App Settings, restart PC, reinstall from MS Store Hub (three dots at top right of Store app) > My Library.

6) Go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:  http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-performance/windows-10-performance-and-install-integrity/75529fd4-fac7-4653-893a-dd8cd4b4db00

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account.  Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

7) Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker.  Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.  Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page.

8) If this was caused by Windows Update(s) then you can check which were installed at Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update under Update History, then uninstall them from the link there, and immediately check for these again and hide with the Hide Updates tool explained here:  https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninstall-and-block-updates-and-drivers-on-windows-10/

You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

9) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool and then choosing to Upgrade Now.  This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, and is also the most stable method to advance to the latest version 1909.   http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Greg, for a really detailed list of possible solutions for the sound quality.

However, I think I might have found a potential reason, in the USB Bluetooth adapter itself. It is obvious rather old, BT ver 1.2, which I think may be the main problem. So, before doing any more troubleshooting, I will try with a new one.

Thanks again, and Best Regards,

Kjell Inge

Greg,

Have got a Bluetooth v4.0 adapter, but it does not help, so I better try your recommended solution.

Thanks, again!

Did you get any improvement?

I use an integrated Bluetooth device (Intel AC-9560 which is an Bluetooth 5) from Thinkpad T490 and did a lot of troubleshooting recommendations but no fix.

If I use an external Bluetooth adapter (USB dangle ASUS BT-400), the voice received at the other end is sharp clear.

No, I did not get any improvement, neither switchin from BT1.2 to BT4, both beeing USB adapters. I also tried most of the listed solutions, without any imrpovement. But, I think I have the opposite problem of yours as I get distortion on the sound in my head set. Those I am talking to, tells that the sound is ok for them. So I find this rather stange, and hope there is a simple solution to it. BRgds, Kjell Inge.

It could have been great, but it simply isn't. On the plus side, it's got a clean UI and the subjects are varied. However, the moderation is abysmal. It is micromanaged, arbitrary and unpredictable. I have written harmless answers that have been collapsed and far more controversial ones that are lef...

Wow !!

Initially after setting up i had breaking call quality while calling a phone from pc.

Now after,

1. Restarting PC,

2. Restarting Smartphone,

3. Keeping my bluetooth receiver on PC on front side

I get crystal clear call quality :D
