Sticky Notes not working

Sticky Notes has (for a day or two now) not been displaying when I open the program.  I am using Windows 10 on my laptop.  The icon still appears on the taskbar, and when I hover over this with the cursor, it still displays a preview of a handful of notes, so I think perhaps it is still there, but just not displaying.  Regardless, the actual notes themselves do not appear on the desktop when I click on the program or when I right click the icon and click "add note" either.  I record some important information using this program and would very much like to retrieve it, so any help is appreciated!

Hi,

I am one of the engineers in the Sticky Notes team and I am very sorry to hear you are experiencing this issues with the Sticky Notes app.

We have discovered an issue in version 2.0.4 with notes that are created with some older versions. If you update to 2.0.5 which is available in the store, your notes should reappear.

Sticky Notes was opening up ok, but as soon as I clicked on a note and tried to enter text, the programme was shut down. I went to the store to look for the update mentioned by Reza, but this just indicated that I was all up to date.

I thought to try removing and reinstalling the app. but it turned out not to be necessary.

A. With Sticky Notes open, re-type the data into Notepad.

Now, try this, it worked for me:

1. Navigate Windows button,

2. Select cog wheel (Settings),

3. Type Add or Remove Programs"

4. Under Apps and features, locate "Sticky Notes, Microsoft Corporation" and click "Advanced options" underneath that.

5. There is a note there that says, "If this app isn't working correctly, reset it. The apps data will be deleted and the app may be unstable for awhile"


6. Click the Reset button.

7. Search for Sticky Notes to restart the app.

B. Copy and paste the data from Notepad into a new Sticky Note.
