Cannot log into Microsoft Account for Minecraft Windows 10

Hi, I can't log into my microsoft account on windows 10 edition of minecraft. I've recently downloaded the windows 10 edition, and have had a minecraft account since 2011. This is on my PC, I usually play Java edition. Seeing a lot of threads online, but mostly for people who have bought minecraft on nintendo switch.

I get the error message,

Failed to login

We tried to sign you in to your Microsoft Account, but something went wrong.

I've currently:

Uninstalled and reinstalled minecraft windows 10 edition

Cleared sign in data within the app

Checked that there is not a phone number used to sign into my account on my microsoft account (Its just my email)

Also I do have java edition installed on my PC right now, don't know if that would do anything.

Any help would be appreciated to fix this!

Hi, Kyla_

My name is Phillip, an Independent Advisor trying to help.

Here is an explanation So you can run the Minecraft application on Windows 10, I will give you some processes to solve it.

First you have to use the Windows + X key combination, then right click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator. Then on the command prompt screen, enter the following commands one by one and then press the Enter key:

DISM.exe / Online / Cleanup-image / Restorehealth
Sfc / scannow

Enter the following command:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

Then add the following commands:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Where-Object {$ _. InstallLocation -like "* SystemApps *"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml"}
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$ ($ _. InstallLocation) \ AppXManifest.xml"}
$ manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore) .InstallLocation + '\ AppxManifest.xml'; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $ manifest

After running them restart the computer.

If the incident persists, it is necessary to contact the specialized technical support for Xbox games.

I hope I can serve you :)

Regards.

Hello! I actually found a solution that works, similar to yours but less text.

Windows key + X

Click Windows Powershell (Admin)

Type the following command and press enter:

Get-AppxPackage *windowsstore* | Remove-AppxPackage

Type the following command and press enter:

Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

Exit out and restart your computer.

Again go to the same admin program, type in this command and press enter:

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Make sure the spaces and text are exactly the same, I missed a dash the first time I tried it.

This should fix the issue!!

I also had this issue, but a different solution,

Needed to install 'Xbox Identity Provider' from windows store.
