Windows 10 Photo App crashes on opening

After upgrading from win 7 to 10 the windows 10 photo app crashes almost immediately after it is opened. This occurs if it is opening a jpg file or just when opening directly from the start menu.

All windows updates are installed and this occurs after a complete restart as well. There was no help provided in the apps troubleshooter.

I have the same problem and have already checked for updates and there was no resolution to the problem that Jason and I are experiencing.  I totally agree with his comment that this should have been fixed before it was released.

Having the same problems, updated from win8.1

it did work for a little while. but then all photos disappeared,

very frustrating, all I have is a screen asking me to add a folder.

tried adding folders several times, still nothing

the photos do exist in the folder added

seem it could be a nice app if only it would work

Add me to the list experiencing this crash. After first upgrading to Windows 10 several days ago, I recall that the Photos app appeared stable; however, I decided to explore it a bit this morning and perhaps create an album or two, and I find that it consistently crashes just a few seconds after opening.

Just one more disappointing event in the largely disastrous Windows 10 launch!

If anyone is using Amd  CrossfireX and experiencing photo app crashing.

Look in CCC and disable box That  Reads ( Enable Amd CrossfieX for applications that have no associated application profile.

This stopped my photo app from crashing at startup so far in my case.  Disabling Crosssfirex  altogether helped also. Test it,  maybe that you can have Crossfire enabled but not the above option enabled.

Good Luck!

PS: Don't know if this applies to SLI.   Disabling SLI might help.
