How to export my photos from Windows 10 Photo App

I am trying to back up from photos from Windows 10 Photo App to a external hard drive but everytime I try to select and copy, it freezes and shuts down. There are different pictures from the Photo App that are not included in My Pictures file. I don't know what to do or how to save my photos from it. Any suggestions?

Couldn't find an option to copy files to local drive in the 'Share' Menu.

Secondly, I have a few thousand photos to copy, is there any way to bulk select?

This doesn't actually answer the question. There is no obvious facility to copy or export images to a USB or external drive.

I'm still searching for an answer!  Older photosystems where so much simpler!

Have you tried Explorer?  Just right click on the full screen image and select Open Folder.

As of today July the 3th 2017 I'm having the same problem, no easy way to batch transfer easily your pictures from this app to an external drive. I have the strong belief that MS is trying to force us to buy extra storage on OneDrive, money greedy people, I thought it was just Apple. Anyway if anybody find a way, please let me know. Thanks.

When I select "copy" in the share icon or from the taskbar, I get no option of where to copy the photo to.  Getting very frustrated with this app! I want to back up photos to a portable hard drive.

Normally you would use Explorer to copy/paste (drag/drop) the files but you can use Photos' Copy for the first part.  Just use Explorer to click on your external drive and select Paste.
