Windows 10 mail: Sometimes sent mail disappears

Sometimes when I create an e-mail message in the Windows 10 Mail app and send it (it is a gmail account) it sends fine. Other times I click send and it seems like it sent but in fact, the e-mail vanished. It did not send, it is not in the outbox, it is not in drafts. It just disappeared.

I can't figure out why some e-mails send and others disappear.

How can I get all e-mails to send reliably?

A workaround solution:

- Go to gmail.com and logon
- Click "Settings", top right
- Click "Filters and blocked addresses"
- Click "Create a new filter"
- Put your email address into the "From" field
- Click "Create filter"
- On the next page, select "Never send it to Spam"
- Click "Create filter"

This will put a copy of the email in your inbox, not your sent items folder.  To get the email in your sent items folder you have to set 3 actions on the filters:  Do this: Skip Inbox, Apply label "Sent Items", Never send it to Spam. 

This seems to send the email to your "sent items" folder on Gmail, but not your inbox.  And in Windows Mail the email does show up in you Sent Items folder.  What a PAIN. . . .
