Windows 10 Mail App Won't Sync

I am having a major problem with the Windows 10 mail app.

I have a single Gmail account that I'm trying to use with it, and basically nothing syncs. Occassionally the Inbox will sync, but it's sporadic, so I'll have messages from a week ago and the app will try to tell me that it's "up to date." Folders simply do not sync at all, giving a variety of messages ranging from "Still working on it" to "Not synced yet" to "nothing to sync." This includes All Mail, Sent Mail, and more.

Basically this renders the app useless. Because of the sync issues, I can't count on notifications or the live tile to be correct. Any sort of Cortana integration is a bust too. One of the core components of this new operating system is completely non-functional. The Windows 8 Mail app wasn't anything to get excited about, but it worked pretty flawlessly as basic as it was. I had no problems with it, and honestly wish I could have it back. The Windows 10 app looks nice, but it just plain doesn't work.

Can anybody help me fix this?

For the record, I've tried removing and re-adding the email account, as well as toggling the privacy settings under Contacts and Calendar. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Having exactly the same problem.  Also with gmail.  Synced fine until 5pm today on windows 8 then I downloaded Windows 10 and I've deleted and re-added the account about 4 times but everytime it will now only pick up yesterdays mail.  Completely fed up with it already.

The App Troubleshooter said that it doesn't work with this version of Windows, and the other link you provided for Method 2 was instructions for Windows 8.1, not Windows 10.

I tried toggling some of the privacy settings and got sync to work..   I was not systematic in my approach some am not sure which was the one to fix..

go to start -> settings -> privacy

But here are the ones that could be the culprit

Calendar - > Mail and Calendar

Other devices -> Sync with devices

I tried a number of these turning from ON to OFF and then back to ON

Thanks very much for the suggestions. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me.

Any chance of any help from Microsoft? Their earlier suggestion didn't work for me.

Mine even crashes when I try to open any message. I'm not able to delete any account it just doesn't let me do it.

update: I have reinstalled the win. Now it works as it should be. Seems it is one of the usual problems when many updates are happening one after the other and reg mess happens. MS you really have to find way how to handle unused /obsolete reg entries.

Arul_D,

Please know in Method 1: the app doesn't work you suggested running.  "Sorry, this troubleshooter doesn't work with this version of Windows.  We disabled this troubleshooter because it won't work on this PC."

People have problems with the Windows 10 version. Please update your response.

Thanks

Shaun
