Hi MC,

You’re not the only one upset by this:

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft... - just found this article.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

I suggest using the Feedback Hub to reach out to the MS directly and voice yourself to them. Click start - type Feedback and you should be able to launch it.

Hope this helps!

I already left feedback about this but they seem to be blackholing it. I know they say ~wait a few minutes for it to appear, but that was nearly an hour ago and that banner is gone now, but no sign of my feedback. Honestly not at all surprised with how these parasites treat regular customers as beta testers and try to constantly force ad filled garbage on us.

I know... it stinks. I wish I had a better answer than send feedback, or had a solution to turn it off... but I don’t

Hopefully they reach back out with an explanation... something.

So far the only official response I've gotten was to a tweet, directing me to use Outlook 2016 or pay the O365 ransom.

(I actually do have Office 2016, but I neither need nor want to deal with something as heavy as full on Outlook. And that's still no excuse for injecting ads into basic OS features to suck ad revenue out of their victims and push them into paying for things they don't need.)

(And still no sign of my feedback, which I submitted twice.)

If you don't want to use Outlook, you can use Mozilla Thunderbird as a great alternative thats even more robust but user friendly.

So it was a “use our paid version of a mail client, or use our free version and we’ll display ads” - Mail is a nice alternately to web based mail, but not if ads will be shoved in there.

Having a gmail account, I guess I expect the ads from google, with all the free things they’ve given me for years... but if you’re purchasing an OS, Mail should probably just remain a free lightweight client...

Good luck moving forward, I hope they make the change and remove ads sooner rather than later.

Have yourself a great weekend, and please leave a positive review if possible!

Thanks!

BTW I have an Office 365 subscription and still get the ads. They told me there is no version of Mail without ads available. Must migrate everything to Outlook.

I don't mind having them, but the positioning needs to be changed. I've clicked on so many because there's a delay on them popping in, that's the biggest irritation point they have IMO. It's a very dirty tactic.
