Why does Mail (in windows 10) want access to my full g-mail account?

I found out, when setting up my gmail account, that the Mail app wants full access to my gmail account. It wants to manage, label and read my e-mails. Can someone please explain what this means and why the app would want to do this? Furthermore, it also wants permission to delete my e-mail(?!?!?!) why would Mail want access to delete and adjust my e-mail? This concerns me so much that I do not want to set up my gmail account in the app. Can someone please explain me what the purpose is of full access and especially focussed on the reading and deleting part.

Hopefully someone can explain this to me, Thanks in advance already.
