WHAT DOES ERROR CODE 0x85002012 MEAN

What does error code 0x85002012 mean? When I'm in my Windows 10 Mail and trying to sync things, I get that error message along with Microsoft can't sync now. I have gotten that same message ever since I installed Windows 10. I have not been able to sync anything in my Windows 10 Mail.

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Please answer the following questions:

  1. What is the exact error message?
  2. How are you accessing your mail?
  3. What is the make and model of your device?
  4. Since when are you facing this issue?

I request you to perform the following steps:

Perform system file checker. Follow the steps below which will help you:

1. Open an elevated command prompt.

2. In the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow.

The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files, and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%\System32\dllcache.

I hope this helps you. If you have any further query in future, feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you.

Thank you.

Hi and thanks for your answer

I did the sfc /scannow command in elevated command prompt and Windows found and helped some problems.

But I get always the error in mail (Windows 10 pro), and strange, only with my outlook.com account. My gmail syncs OK and the calendar syncs also OK This is the error message I got. This happens on my PC (not a windowsphone).

Best regards

Martine

Tried the sfc /scannow command, no issues found.

Ran the Windows app troubleshooting check as well, noting found.  Have deleted and re-added the account so many times, I forget.

What is really strange is I have 2 email accounts with the same provider, setup exactly the same except the obvious userID.  One account works, the other does not.

Any other suggestions?

This problem is happening on all my computers now that Windows 10 is on them.  Two Dell laptops, Two Toshiba laptops, Two Surface Computers, One Surface is less than three months old.  That Surface was advertised as Window 10 Ready.  My MSN Email works fine on my two Apple IPADS (one is a regular IPAD & the other is a three month old IPAD AIR.). I did not have this problem until last Wednesday a week ago.  You must have put a Windows Phone fix on our computers incorrectly.  Note above how it say go to Windows Phone Support & also note it only is giving us 99 emails capacity like on our cell phones.  I can not believe you have not come up with a real fix by now.

Mine is happening on 2 Toshiba laptops and an HP Stream.  I'm not sure about the 99 message limit as surprisingly, my Outlook.com account on these devices has over 99 email messages and syncs properly.

Is anybody going to try to fix this for us from Microsoft?  It looks like a phone fix was put on my lap top automatically since there is a limit of only 99 emails. I have more than 99 emails too on my laptop & it did not usually limit the email numbers.  So far no fixes work.  Wish they would fix the fix they put on last Tuesday when it became broke as it was working fine when I went to bed last Monday.  Tuesday is my last email in my mailbox. Someone from Microsoft please help with a fix.  This problem is more than one week old now.

I have installed this update and all other updates available to now but still get this same error.  The mail app has given me this error ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 which would have to be 2 weeks ago now at least.  It worked fine previous to upgrading to Windows 10.

I am having precisely the same problem, and the initial suggested fix has not worked.

I get the same error message code.

I can access my email via other means, but not through Windows 10 Mail, and this has been the case ever since I downloaded Windows 10.

Is the issue being addressed?
