WIndows 10 Mail - Missing email accounts

All  my e-mail accounts disappeared from windows 10 mail. When I try to add them again, I get  message "e-mail account exist". Yet, my e-mail is empty. I had 4 e-mail accounts defined, I can't see any of them!

Hi Sami,

We appreciate you for being a part of Windows 10.

Before proceeding, we need more information to help you better.

1) Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

2) Which is the type of email account you have configured/add in the Mail app? Is it Pop3/Imap/Exchange server/any other email account?

Meanwhile, you may try to change the Mail box sync settings for the email account which are already configured in Mail app (As you said 4 email accounts are defined) and check if you are able to see the emails in the Mail app. Follow the below steps to change the mail box sync settings.

  1. Open the Mail app (sign in to your email account if prompted).

  2. Click on the gear icon (Settings) from the bottom left corner.

  3. Click on the Accounts under Settings.

  4. Click on your account and select Change settings.

  5. Click on the Change mailbox sync settings and check in the Sync options.

Now check if you are able to see the emails in the Mail app.

Kindly let us know the required information if you need any further assistance with the issue. We are glad to assist you.

Thank you.

Thanks and regards.

Thank you for you response, to answer your questions:

1) I did not make any changes to the computer

2) I had outlook, Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud mails defined in my mail accounts. However, I tried adding an exchange server account and I could as my company exchange mail server policies had too many restrictions.

Kiran,

I couldn't complete step # 4 as there were no accounts listed under my accounts. The was one option available, + Add account!

Hello,

Are any of the missing accounts:

  • displayed in the Mail app either on the left pane or when viewing the account settings (Mail -> Settings ->Accounts)?
  • present in the People app?
    • People -> ... (menu on the left Navigation pane next to the search box) -> Settings ->
  • displayed in Windows? (Start -> Settings -> Accounts -> Your email and accounts -> Accounts use by other apps?

I have the same problem, but in my case only one account is missing.  It is very frustrating as the mail app insists that the account exists if I try to re-add.

Actually the account shows up in People, and claims to be synchronizing, but seems to be stuck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Chris

I seem to have been able to fix it.  The account show up in the calendar app and from there I was able to delete, then re-add in the mail app.

Frustrating process, but at least now working.

Chris

I know this is old but I just had this problem. I had several accounts in my mail app for windows 10 and all just disappeared for some reason. I did some checking and into the Settings/ Manage Accounts/ Add Account. Then I check on the Account type I wanted to add and all my other accounts were there so I had to add each one and it set it up automatically. Pain in the butt, but it worked.

I can really, for the love of all of Bills billions, not comprehend how Microsoft isn't able to develop a stable mailcliënt.

So often accounts disappear, or even once a total random account was set as 'main' account for win10. Such a mess. Sure, you will delete this but I am so disappointed and annoyed. While I should be working am I looking to recover three mailacccounts that just disappear from windows 10 mail with no reason. Not the first time, fourth time since I used this mailcliënt.

Do you understand that people don't need this when they need their computer and email for work?

At least windows live mail was - semi- ok and had the opportunity to spam spamming domains manually.

Speaking of, you really have no idea what is priority to people and what not do you?

Don't let software choose when you are not able to develop a competent type of software that has to do the choosing: give people the tools.

I wish you -and thus the whole world who has to put up with this-  the best for 2018.

Sander
