Cannot add accounts to mail and calendar on windows 10

I've been trying to add an account to my windows 10 mail app but it doesn't work.  I try deleting it and reinstalling and still cannot add any accounts to mail or calendar app.  The add account button does not do anything or show any error messages.

Hi Salvador,

This issue might be caused due to corrupt user profile.

We would suggest you to create a new local account and check if the mail app works.

Thanks for the reply. I tried adding another account, but couldn't add accounts. Its the same as my email app were I cannot click on anything.  I was sign in to my Microsoft account but I cannot sing back in, I cannot click on sign in with Microsoft account.

Same problem. Microsoft refuses to do anything to help.

I am having the same problem - cannot add my Hotmail email to mail and calendar.  For mail, I get an error 0x801901f4, but for calendar, I click on add and a window appears and then goes away. Another thing, I cannot set up account in Edge browser to use my Microsoft account.

This is on a laptop that was just updated from Win7. Also, I have successful updated a Win8 PC to Win10 and had no issues with mail and calendar.

I just reinstall windows 10, and everything is working now.  I just went bank to windows 8 and upgraded again.  It fix everything even my graphic drivers that were not working.

Boy, doing a re-install seems drastic.  Also, I cannot go back to Win8 since I upgraded from Win7.

Here's some more information about what I did.

I tried using the "Outlook.com" option and that is what failed.  I used it because my Microsoft email account is Hotmail which is listed.  I didn't think "Exchange" was right since it said "Exchange, Office 365" - I didn't know what "exchange" was and it was definitely not Office 365.    I later tried the "Other account" option and it worked.

I don't know what the ramifications are of picking each options, regardless of what worked.  What I mean is, will the Mail app work differently or some functionality not work at all if the option chosen isn't "right" based on the email account type?

Even though the email appears to "work," I would still prefer it be set up the "right way."  So, it'd be great if a Microsoft technician could chime in...

Still Have the same problem, been trying to find the solution anywhere but I got stuck again. Hope soon this problem will be resolve.

Mine whenever I click the "Add Account" buttons it only appear grey box then disappear and won't let me log in/add any account. Didn't receive any error message it just does not show anything. Already try to uninstall the mail App but still the same. Try to add the account through the setting didn't do anything. So I been wondering, what could be wrong. I hope Microsoft will look this problem.

Same problem.  Add account button appears inoperative.  The application is basically crap.  Anyone at Microsoft listening?

in my case, I go to Setting -->Accounts -->Emails. In the email box, there is a button named "reset" and this button has been appeared for such case only. After reset my Mail app is working properly.

I'm having this issue as well; creating a new user profile didn't help. I'm on build16299.15. Probably going to try a reset in the next day or so.
