Microsoft Edge not loading webpages

Just downloaded windows 10, and after I tried changing the homepage in Microsoft Edge, the browser stopped loading webpages entirely. Whenever I try to load a search or webpage, it remains on the blank white screen. Anyone know why?

Hello,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have issues with accessing Microsoft Edge. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

I suggest you clear the Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

  1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
  2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
  3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Now check with the issue.

If the issue persists then, I suggest you to create a new user account and check if you still face the issue. To create it perform the steps mentioned below.

  1. Press Windows key + R key, Run window opens.
  2. Type control in the open box and click Ok.
  3. Control Panel windows opens.
  4. Click on User accounts and Family Safety.
  5. Click on User Account and then click on Manage Accounts.
  6. Now click on Add a new user and follow the instructions.

Now check if the issue persists in the new user account.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need further assistance, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Regards,

Ashish Sondhi

I do not know what happened but edge for whatever reason started to work properly the next day after installation. A Microsoft tech took control of my lap top the first day but was unable to resolve the situation, but the next day it was working fine.

It worked for a while, but still is not functioning properly every time I turn my computer on.  I would like a solution that does not require adding a new user..  I think that the Edge did not properly load with Windows 10.  I have 3 computers running Windows 10 with edge and only one is doing this.

Would like a reply.

Thank you.

I've got a similar problem, Edge worked fine the first day I downloaded Windows 10 onto this laptop but since then when I'm logged in to my account Edge opens a webpage but closes again within seconds. My husband also has a separate account on this laptop and his Edge seems to be working ok. Very strange!

I've tried deleting browsing history but as soon as I click settings  choose what to clear - edge closes down again.

I'd like an answer to resolve this please.

I am also very disappointed. I am looking for better explanation why this is happening. I saw this page and hope to find better fix for this issue.

how come a support engineer was not able to fix this issue and instead suggested to create a new account which is still not a fix. this is what we call a "band aid fix" meaning the issue is still there.

I am running 3 sites, all developed the same way, all on the SAME IIS server using host headers.  Microsoft Edge will open one, but not the other 2 on my Surface pro 3, latest updates.

All 3 sites work fine in any other Browser.

All 3 sites work fine on my Nokia Windows 10 phone - Edge browser.

I have confirmed the same problem with 5 other workstations in our local network running windows 10.

I have cleared caches etc. etc. - I would need further explaination on why re-doing a user account would have anything to do with this problem.   I did not try that.

All URL resolve to the correct IP address.

UNLESS???????    Would Windows 10 Edge somehow be upset that 3 different URL's resolve to the same IP Address????

Not helpful - I find this kind of thing very frustrating when in the middle of a busy day EDGE just won't let me do what I need to do... Look on the internet for my services. Just have to find other browsers that will work.

Clearing the browsing data worked for me. There also is a box just below so Windows can clear browsing data when you close your browser. Could be helpful.
