Integrated webcam error code 0xA00F4271(0x80070001)

New Lenovo Ideapad 710s laptop and the camera will open and the light will be on for a second before the error pops up. Webcam works fine in Skype and other applications using the webcam, just not the camera app preinstalled. Tried updating windows and camera driver, tried troubleshooter for both hardware and windows store apps.

Thank you for responding with Dxdiag info, this is very helpful. I see you are still running th2_release. Please download the latest Windows Update (1607), and see if that fixes your issue.

"Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 10586) (10586.th2_release.160802-1857)"

Here is a handy guide on how to install the new Anniversary Update:

Yeah I just did the anniversary update, and still have the exact same problem. Seems to be an issue with Lenovo Thinkpad laptops. My old apps like web conferencing, Skype, etc. work fine, but the Windows 10 camera app doesn't run, only produces that same error message.

I don't have the exact laptop mseatle mentions in his original post (the Ideapad 710S). I tried this on an Ideapad U530 and could not repro the issue with Windows Camera and other camera apps running separately and side by side. I was on Windows 10 Anniversary Update (14393.105).

I have a couple of things you can try:

  • Assuming you have the Lenovo camera driver installed from their website, uninstall that driver, and reinstall the generic class driver from Windows (Find your camera in Device Manager, uninstall, scan for hardware changes)
  • File a bug (Launch the Feedback Hub, mark as a Problem, include your forum username in the title so I can find you, click on the Begin monitoring button, and launch the Windows Camera app and make sure it hits the issue, then Stop monitoring and submit).
