Your Phone App not working with VPN

The "Your Phone" app does to appear to work when my pc is connected to a vpn. Any work arounds aside from disconnecting from the vpn?

I'll suggest you use Fiddler to use VPN with UWP apps.

I have got the same problem but it's my phone connected through VPN not my PC. I get a notifation on PC that it can't get updated information from the phone unless it's connected to Wi-Fi. But it is connected. Disabling VPN works like a charm but it's not an acceptable workaround for this issue. And about Fiddler, I don' t understand a single thing from the linked page.
