won't install security update for windows XP (KB2481109)

Please answer all of the following diagnostic questions in a numbered list in your very next reply (no need to quote this post):

1. What is the full name of your installed anti-virus application or security suite and when (approx. date) does your current subscription expire?  What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender) are installed?  What third-party firewall (if any)?

2. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer?

3. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [pick one] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

4. Open Add/Remove Programs & make sure the Show Updates box at the top is checked (and leave it checked); then select the Name option in the Sort by box on the right. Now scroll down & tell me if ALL of the following updates are listed?

    • KB2618444, KB2633171, KB2639417, KB2620712, KB2619339, KB2624667, KB2618451; KB2641690, KB2544521 & KB971029

Most will be displayed as Security Update for Windows XP followed by the KB number in parentheses.

If IE8 is installed, two will be displayed as Security Update for Windows Internet Explorer 8 followed by the KB number in parentheses.

2. What anti-virus application was installed before you installed AVG Free 2012, was your subscription still current, and did you uninstall it before you installed AVG Free 2012?

3. Is Ad-Aware's Ad-Watch enabled and if so, do you understand what Ad-Watch does & how it does it?

4. Which, if any, of the following updates ARE LISTED in Add/Remove Programs?...

    • Security Update for Windows XP (KB2393802)

    • Security Update for Windows XP (KB2567053)

    • Security Update for Windows XP (KB2476687)

    • Security Update for Windows XP (KB2508272)

    • Update for Windows XP (KB2616676)

5. Are you in the habit of using "Registry cleaners" (e.g., Registry Mechanic; System Mechanic; RegCure; RegClean Pro; Advanced SystemCare; AVG PC TuneUp; Norton Registry Cleaner; PCTools Optimiser; SpeedUpMyPC; CCleaner)?

4. As a rule I only use disk clean-up and defragmentor, delete history and cookies. Yesterday I tried a free version of AVG tune-up 2011

But it still won't download Security update KB 2481109

AVG free was on my computer when I bought it I was told it was all I needed...
