Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

I have a Dell Dimension XPS that's not been used for some years. Other info includes: Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I recently powered it up. But, I'm not able to connect to the Internet anymore. How or what do I need to do in order to get it connected to the internet?
How did you connect to the internet when the machine was in use?

The "Internet Explorer". When I click on to its icon it doesn't connect. I know this Microsoft Windows XP is no longer supported.  I don't have the disks that came with this Dell System. I just can't figure out why its not able to connect to the internet.

Well, have you plugged in the line to your computer?  Or did you hook into your WiFi?  You need to do one of those first.

I'm sorry... "the computers"?  The computer should go directly to the router OR connect via WiFi.  You can't feed a connection thru a computer unless you turn it into a hot spot.  And based on the age of the machine it may not have the ability to recognize a hot spot or WiFi so probably best if plugged directly into the router.  Once done you would then need to install the software to make sure the router and the machine are *talking* to each other.  Mine was plug and play but not sure that was available on Windows XP.
