Windows X Desktop

Windows X Home changed my display setting:

- at start up, the system showed an extended version of the start menu - the usual icon shortcuts but not alphabetically organized programs on the left side as usual,

-the Desktop is not displayed, unless as a folder in an independent window, win-d does nothing,

-program windows (browser, notepad, folders) can only be minimized or closed

-No resizing, nor sorting program windows within the display is allowed.

I was able to restore the display of "app" and "notification icons" from the task bar, but nothing seems accessible to restore the desktop and the capability of creating more desktops is lost.  No program was installed, neither changes in display settings by the user; the systems seems not to have updated overnight to my knowledge.

How can the Windows Desktop be restored?

Answer
Answer
Hi McoRdz

are you in tablet mode?
winky+A to open the action centre click the tablet mode button to toggle it off.
(if tablet mode button is not visible, click expand)

to prevent windows automatically going into tablet mode
settings -> system -> tablet mode
under "when i sign in" select "use desktop mode"
under "when this device automatically switches tablet mode on or off"
select "don't ask me and don't switch"

if that is not the issue, a screenshot might help identify the cause.
