Windows Won't Let Me Run An Emulator

Hi, I have built a controller that looks like its from a retro arcade and I was going to use an emulator called "MAME" to use it, but when I tried to open the emulator it gave me a screen that said, Windows protected your PC Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting Running this app might put your PC at risk. I have looked on line and everyone says that this emulator is the best one to use, I don't know if I should just run the emulator or try to find a new one that works

Hi, Leif. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

You will see this warning with all emulators, this message is shown because the antivirus software does not have the file signatures stored in its data bank.

You can use an online antivirus like VirusTotal to check if has any threats in the emulator files, if don't have any threats you can click on "More info" and then click on the "Run app anyway" button.
