windows updates KB3140768 & KB3140743 - seem to push the XINPUT compatible HID device' [10.0.10586.122] Driver

Once this driver is installed and the xbox 1 game pads connected games crash during loading most of the time and when you get into the game you have no keyboard control.
Unplugging the gamepad after the keyboards stopped working will cause a total loss of control. The mouse when moved will casue the cursor to move very slowly and make a beep every time it moves.
You have no alternative other than a hard reset after this.

I found I was not alone when searching google using results from the past week with the term “gta v keyboard stopped working”

Searching that for the past week brings up a lot of confused windows 10 users sharing the issue.

I hope this helps and can you please send me your post on Microsoft so I can follow it.

Kind regards.

Hi Sherwin,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing in Windows. We will help you.

Did the issue resolve for you after following the steps given in the link above?

In Windows 10, your device is always kept up to date with the latest features and fixes. Updates and drivers are installed automatically, with no need to select which updates are needed or not needed. In rare cases, a specific driver or update might temporarily cause issues with your device, and in this case you will need a way to prevent the problematic driver or update from reinstalling automatically the next time Windows Updates are installed.

Refer: How to temporarily prevent a Windows or driver update from reinstalling in Windows 10

Hope it helps. Keep us posted to help you better.

Thank you

Sherin's the MS answer tech I spoke to last week.

It is me with the problem.

The problem can only be resolved by stopping windows installing the big updates KB3140768 & KB3140743 meaning my PC no longer has the security updates.

Can you tell me what is being done to fix this as it is not an isolated case and is a direct conflict with a Microsoft operating system and Microsoft game controller?

Thanks,

Gareth.

Perhaps I've got an easier out because I deploy patches via WSUS......but I was able to solve it by getting hold of the CAB file for the previous XINPUT driver, extracting it and manually updating the XINPUT driver with the older one.

I have left the cumulative updates installed and all is working fine now.

Would you mind uploading the file somewhere so I can install it please?

Great stuff, it now works again :)

All we need now if Microsoft to take note and fix it instead of us having to use this workaround!

Thanks. Jason.

How exactly do I roll back driver to this one? When I try to it tells me already have best one installed? If I try to manually delete or overwrite file it says I don't have permission.
