Windows Update - keeps updating HP obsolete USB (Driver?)

Running W10 64bit level 1903 on Dell desktop PC.

Windows Update every month at least, keeps offering me (and installing) this "update":

Hewlett-Packard - USB - 2/10/2017 12:00:00AM - 44.1.2402.1741 (15)

I have never selected to install this update, but Windows Update does install it - then in a week or 3, it appears once again in Windows Update, offering for me to "install now".

This is NOT the current level of this software from HP.

I asked in an HP forum why Microsoft Windows Update was installing OLD HP software and the HP employee replied that he really did not know.

So why is Windows Update installing the same OLD HP software again and again?

Its part of the nature of Windows 10 to install drivers automatically. Microsoft is planning to change this in Windows 10 20H1 and move optional drivers to a section where you can manually install them.

In the mean time, you will have to block the update.

Is there an option or work around to block updates or hardware drivers that might cause problems?
Yes, Microsoft has released a KB update (KB3073930) that will let users block or hide Windows or driver updates.

You can download it at the following link:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930

After downloading, launch it, click Next, wait while it detects pending Windows Updates.

Click the Hide Updates menu.

Scroll through the list then select then select the update. Check the box next to the update then click Next to confirm changes.
