Windows Update keeps telling me to install updates that are already installed.

Hello,

I recently got a new computer, and it installed all updates normally. Now, for some reason, it keeps showing 18 driver updates that on install give error 0x80070103.

I searched and found out this means the update is already installed. I go check installed updates and all the updates it tells me to install are already on the computer.

How can I get rid of this?

Hello Cookie_1997,

Good day! I'm John Dev a Windows user like you and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

Note: It is always recommended to download and install drivers from the manufacturer's Support page. If you're not experiencing any hardware issues, there's no need to install these driver update.

Please try using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the driver updates. Window Update won’t install hidden drivers or updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try hiding the driver updates that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.

The only update that I could hide was a Microsoft Defender update.

No driver updates show.

Hello Cookie_1997,

Thank you for updating me with that information. I apologize that this did not resolve the issue.

Please try the following methods below.

Please try to pause updates for 7 days then reboot your computer
After that, click resume updates
Please check if the issue persists

**Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win...

**Make sure Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services are available and running.

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: services.msc
Press Enter to open Services app

Double-click Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart

Double-click Windows Update.
If the Startup status lists Stopped, click Start and then click OK. If the status is Running, right click then select Restart

**Please try to run SFC and DISM to check for any system errors and corrupted files.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/usi...
After that, restart your computer

**Reset Windows Update Components
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/reset-windows-upd...

If the issue still persists, please try performing an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be removed.

**Few things to check on the PC

Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
Disable or uninstall any 3rd party Anti-Virus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

Hello,

None of the solutions worked. Because Sumit D is saying that this could be a problem for everyone, I will disregard for now.

If anything happens, I will follow-up later.

Thanks.
